What Can We Offer?

Tai-Chi

I specialise in helping others learn simple forms of Tai-Chi, focusing on a well established form known as the 'Compact Form'. This takes a short time to perform, and the moves can be learnt over just a couple of months, depending on how many sessions are attended and how often you practice (a common theme....)

The Compact Form was developed to offer many of the benefits of Tai-Chi practice within a small area - most people can practice this in their kitchen or living room, and I've worked out that it takes as long to perform as a cup of tea takes to brew!

Within the practice of the Compact Form there are martial or self defense applications that a student can explore. Whilst these may be gently demonstrated, within Every Day Tai-Chi I do not aim to teach Tai-Chi as a martial art (Tai-Chi Chuan). An appreciation of the potential of the practice as a fighting art helps our understanding, and should you wish to learn how to apply the techniques within Tai-Chi to a combat scenario we may be able to help you find an appropriate teacher.

As with all Tai-Chi there is more to this form than meets the eye. As the stances and movements are learnt the student will discover opportunities to deepen their practice and get more from it.

Qi-Gong

These simple movements are said to help the mind cultivate and direct Qi (or 'Chi'), and that this helps the body stay healthy. This may well be the case, but what practitioners have found is that the practice of Qi-Gong helps calm the mind, keep the body moving, and helps to maintain a sense of well-being.

At Every Day Tai-Chi we focus on the Shi-Ba-Shi Qi-Gong set of 18 movements with some 'settling' movements added. Some prefer to practice Qi-Gong without learning a Tai-Chi set, finding it more accessible and easier to remember with similar benefits. We can happily accommodate this approach, or find a mix of emphasis in a session to suit your aims.

Relaxation

As well as the practice of Tai-Chi and Qi-Gong, Every Day Tai-Chi can help you develop every day relaxation techniques. These range from simple and swift ways of helping to 'unwind' to developing a meditation practice to suit your life style and goals.
